Cautious, January 29, 2012 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Apple MacBook 13" Aluminum Unibody Laptop Battery A1278 A1280 MB466LL/A MB466 MB771LLA MB771 (Electronics) This battery was for my MacBook purchased in February 2009 and this was the first battery change. The retail price at my Apple store was $129.00 plus tax which pushed the total expenditure to nearly $140.00. A chain battery store in town was charging $109.00 for an equivalent replacement.
The reviews on battery replacements are multiple and are worth reading. Everything from very short life to swelling and finally significant damage to a computer have been identified. The prices go from unbelievably cheap ($20.00) to list price.
I am convinced that the battery I purchased for about $70.00 is a genuine Apple product. It is identical in appearance and has the Apple loco on it. The packaging was typical for Apple with a well fashioned box that was folded and not glued, just like the original product packaging. Apple register numbers were on it.
The battery was delivered in very short order (four days from order) by Priority Mail. It was undamaged... Read more

My battery was WAY cheaper than getting one through the company. It's the real thing & after 2 months I've had no problems. I had my original battery for about 2 and 1/2 years. I had to purchase a replacement since my old one was swollen & my mouse pad wouldn't work well. (I've read that this is a common problem, and I really believe it happens when the laptop is used often and not put in sleep mode or shut off as it should be -guilty! I'm also taking better care not to continually keep the laptop charging. I let the battery die down to around 30% as the instructions say & then plug it back in. If I'm continually working, it will last me around 3-4 hours without charging. I'm okay with that, so no complaints. I was too afraid to buy generic since I've always felt that we really get what we pay for, and in my case, it's been absolutely true! Thanks for selling the real thing at a much better price!

Some usage scenarios which may help you to make a decision (tested on Windows 7 and Mac-snow leopard):
1. Only web-browsing (includes flash usage too) with medium brightness - 4+ hrs
2. Watched movies (not from disk) full brightness, running couple of background apps like browser, Skype etc - 3 hrs
3. Regular/random/daily usage 4-5 hrs
I think it's a good battery !
