It works just as advertised. Holds a much better charge than the original 6-cell. It's genuine Lenovo. Packaging wasn't great, but it made it here in one piece, so I won't complain.
CONS:
Price. Cost me about $140 at my time of purchase(12/11). Other than that no complaints.

I've used generics in the past including with a Lenovo Thinkpad. This particular laptop runs VERY hot, and gets a lot of use. (It's one of their screaming fast road warrior models.) The heat warped the battery, and caused its locking mechanism to break. I limped along with it for a few months, with results you'd expect when a battery doesn't seat properly.
I finally bit the bullet and bought a Lenovo branded battery, and here's why:
- Lenovo has known about the heat problem on this model since shortly after it was launched.It was even the subject of a recall.
- They've had time to change their battery specs in the interim.
- They have a significant business interest in ensuring that the failure of a $100-$150 part doesn't create reasons for customers to stop buying their $3000 machines.
I'll continue to buy generic batteries for electronic devices... Read more
